Below you can find an overview of the public transportation options available to communities in Orange County, NC.  

Scroll down or click on the communities listed below to see transit services available in each area, along with links to relevant transit agencies, routes, and schedules. Each section includes information on key bus stops as well as guidance on reaching notable destinations such as shopping centers, schools, healthcare facilities, and nearby towns, as well as ADA transit options.

Northern Hillborough

The Fairview community has several transit options that serve the Town of Hillsborough, connecting residents to neighboring towns. Orange County (OCPT) operates within Hillsborough and GoTriangle operates several scheduled bus services that connect Hillsborough to neighboring towns, Mebane, Chapel Hill, and Durham.

Key bus stops:

  • From the Dorothy N. Johnson Community Center, you can access:

    • Downtown Hillsborough and River Walk (via HC – Orange Loop)

    • Passmore Senior Center (via HC – Orange Loop)

    • Hillsborough Elementary School (via HC – Orange Loop)

  • From the Orange County Library (Downtown Hillsborough), you can access:

    • Shopping: Food Lion, Walmart, Hillsborough Commons (via HC – Blue Loop)

    • UNC Hospital – Hillsborough Campus (via HC – Blue Loop)

    • Durham Technical Community College (via HC – Blue Loop & Hillsborough Chapel Hill Connector)

    • City of Chapel Hill (via Hillsborough Chapel Hill Connector)

Efland-Cheeks

Efland/Mebane

Mebane has bus stops in Downtown Mebane and at the Cone Health Medical Center. There are several buses which serve residents and connect Mebane to other towns, such as Efland, Hillsborough and Chapel Hill. Efland's bus stop serves the Efland-Cheeks Community Center & Park and the Efland-Cheeks Elementary School.

Key bus stops:

  • From Downtown Mebane (E Washington/N 5th St), you can access:

    • Mebane Cone Health Park-and-Ride (via OA Connector & ODX)

    • Mebane's Tangier Outlets (via OA Connector)

    • Efland-Cheeks Community Center, Park and Elementary School (via OA Connector)

    • Downtown Hillsborough (via ODX Route)

    • City of Durham & Duke Hospitals (via ODX Route)

  • To access Downtown Mebane:

    • ODX Route from City of Durham, Hillsborough, or Efland

    • OA Route from Mebane Cone Health Park-and-Ride

Rogers Road

Chapel Hill

The Rogers Road community is walking distance to the HS bus line, connecting to Downtown Chapel Hill and other bus lines. Chapel Hill Transit provides a number of bus routes that operate within Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Orange County Public Transit (OCPT) and GoTriangle have bus routes that connect Chapel Hill and Carrboro to neighboring towns Durham and Hillsborough.

Key bus stops:

  • From Rogers-Eubank Neighborhood Association Center (RENA), you can access via the HS bus line:

    • Schools: Morris Grove Elementary, Chapel Hill High

    • Seymour Senior Center 

    • Downtown Chapel Hill, including the Bolin Creek Path

    • UNC Campus & Hospital

Weavers Grove

Chapel Hill

Weavers Grove is walking distance from the T bus line, which connects the community to Downtown Chapel Hill and other bus lines. Like Rogers Road, Chapel Hill Transit provides a number of bus routes that operate within Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Orange County Public Transit (OCPT) and GoTriangle have bus routes that connect Chapel Hill and Carrboro to neighboring towns Durham and Hillsborough.

Key bus stops:

  • Chapel Hill High School's bus stop is nearest to Weavers Grove and provides direct access to the following via the T-route:

    • Timberlyne Village Shopping Center (Food Lion, restaurants, retail)

    • Homestead (Ashley Forest) & Umstead Parks (Chapel Hill)

    • Downtown Chapel Hill

    • UNC Campus & Hospital

  • The T line overlaps with other bus routes:

    • ODX Route from City of Durham, Hillsborough, or Efland

    • OA Route from Mebane Cone Health Park-and-Ride
