A well-used shortcut connecting the neighborhood to Fairview Park just got a major upgrade — and the timing couldn't be better. With last weekend's ice storm behind us and another round of winter weather on the way, residents now have a safer, more accessible path to reach the park, the community center, and nearby bus stops.
This pathway improvement is part of the Communities on the Move program’s Activate! plan, which works to contribute to physical improvements that enhance neighborhood connectivity and accessibility. The project focused on cleaning the pathway and replacing broken surface materials, creating a more reliable route for residents who walk or bike to key destinations.
The improved surface has already made a real difference for neighbors navigating icy conditions on foot or by bike. During challenging winter weather, having a well-maintained pathway isn't just a convenience — it's essential for residents who rely on this route for daily transportation needs.
We're grateful to our partners at the Town of Hillsborough for supporting this community-driven improvement. This project demonstrates what's possible when local government and community research teams work together to address residents' everyday needs.
Check out the before-and-after photos to see the transformation. This is just one example of how the Activate! plan is working to make Fairview a more connected, accessible community for all residents.
